Radiofrequency Microneedling or Morpheus8

Is Radiofrequency Microneedling or Morpheus8 worth it?

If you’re considering a facial treatment to lift and tighten your skin then you may have come across Radiofrequency Microneedling or Morpheus8.

The big question then is – is it worth it?

I’m going to try my best to answer this question as honestly as I can. I carry out these treatments on a daily basis so here’s what you need to know:

What does Radiofrequency Microneedling or Morpheus8 do?

This treatment uses fine needles which puncture the skin causing controlled damage. This part is exactly the same process as standard Microneedling.

However with Morpheus8, you get the added benefit of Radiofrequency energy shooting out of the needles as they penetrate the skin.

So this combination of 2 technologies is called Radiofrequency Microneedling. (Morpheus8 is a brand name which uses this technology).

What results do you get?

This treatment is very impressive and can improve the skin in many ways;

  • Reduce both fine lines and deep wrinkles
  • Lift and tighten a sagging jawline
  • Reduce pores
  • Reduce scarring
  • Improve the overall texture and appearance
  • Increase the collagen and ‘thickness’ of the skin

Most clients get a good visible improvement in their skin with Radiofrequency Microneedling, which considering the very little downtime is superb.

What is the downtime?

After this treatment expect to be very red for a few hours or the remainder of the day. However for most clients the following day the redness is gone, and you will just feel like your skin feels a bit rough like sandpaper.

If you were to go for a coffee with a friend – they probably wouldn’t be able to tell you’d had anything done if you were wearing light make-up.

In more sensitive areas such as the neck, or close to the eyes some clients will get a bruise afterwards but they are still in the minority. If the treatment is carried out to reduce scarring then the redness may be visible for a few days.

So is Radiofrequency Microneedling or Morpheus8 worth it?

This is difficult to answer because it depends on the price you pay and your individual results. Both of these things will vary! To get good results you need to have a course of 3 treatments spaced around 6 weeks apart.

The brand Morpheus8 is priced from around £600-£1000 per treatment for full face. You tend to get some discount for 3 sessions, but that’s still around £1600-£2600 for 3.

There are other brands which offer the same technology (Radiofrequency Microneedling) – such as DuaLift and Focus Dual. The price of these is a bit less from around £400 for full face. So approximately £900-£1200 when booking 3.

I’ve seen results from all the brands and if you put the clients in a line up – I wouldn’t be able to pick who’d had which brand. In reality they all do the same thing! In my experience the results are the same.

Why are these brands cheaper? Because the business model means the machine is a bit less expensive for the clinic to buy, and those savings are passed onto the clients.

In conclusion it’s one of the best treatments available for anti-ageing for the right client. The results are excellent, especially considering it’s not surgery and there’s very little downtime. So I’d say it’s worth.. but I can’t speak for everyone!
