Nails

Which nail treatment is best for you?

Do you look at your friends and wonder how they keep their nails looking so perfect? Have you looked at a nail menu and just given up?  Fear not, I’ve written this guide to help you work out which nail treatment is best for you.

Builder in a Bottle also known as BIAB

which nail treatment is best

BIAB is one of our most popular treatments it’s a good all round treatment for nails in any condition! It’s a hard gel which we apply to your natural nail. We will apply it as thin or as thick as needs be, depending on the quality of your nails. There are a few different reasons why you would choose BIAB –

  • No chipping & breaking so your nails will last and grow well.
  • If your nails are short and brittle, or you’re a nail bitter we can still apply it to your natural nail and the strength of the BIAB will help you to grow you nails. (And it’s not so easy to bite!)
  • If you find that Shellac or Gel Nails don’t last very well and chip easy then we can apply a thin layer and put Gel on top, to help it last the time it should.
  • Can be left nude or we can apply any colour of gel on top.

You will get 2/3 weeks out of your nails then we will infill them.

Polydip

which nail treatment is best

Polydip is also a nail treatment that adds extra strength to the natural nail. We apply a gel base then dip it in special powder and set it which then builds more strength. This is a good treatment if you’ve broken a nail and need a one off fix until the break grows up and out. If you find gel polish doesn’t last the time it should then again we can apply a layer of this on your nails then put the Gel or Shellac over the top.

You’ll get 2/3 weeks out of your nails then we can infill.

Acrylics

Which nails treatment best

If you want to add length to your nails then that’s when you would choose acrylics. We can build them to any length and shape that you like! Short and square, long and almond, or even super long stiletto nails. We can add varnish or Gel in any colour, as well as nail art and glitters. We can make them look as dramatic or natural as you like.

A lot of people think that acrylics ruin your nails, but they actually don’t! Acrylics will only ruin your nails if they are applied or removed incorrectly. You’ll get 3 weeks before you need your infill.

Gel Polish or Shellac

which nail treatment is best

If you are blessed with naturally strong nails then Gel is best for you. People often use the term Shellac to refer to Gel nails (Shellac is a brand name, others include OPI Gel Colour, Gelish, The Gel Bottle etc) Gel nails look and feel very natural. Once they’ve been set under a lamp, then there is no waiting for them to dry! If you find your nails last well and grow without breaking then you should just stick to Gel. It will last you 2/3 weeks.

Manicure

If you prefer leaving your nails natural and/or your hands are in need of some TLC a manicure will do just that! It’s not just about getting your nails to look pretty. There are many stages that take place in a manicure, like filing and shaping, cuticle work, heated mitts & massage! You will notice and feel the difference afterwards. We can apply nail polish too which you can then remove yourself at home.  So a manicure is perfect if you aren’t able to keep polish on your nails for your job.

How long a manicure lasts, will depend on how you look after your nails when you leave.  However it’s much easier to chip polish than any of the other nail treatments.

Top Tips

Here are a few tips to help you get the best of out of your nails treatment:

  • Don’t use your nails tools e.g opening a tin, picking a label. (Think they’re jewels not tools!)
  • Wear gloves as much as possible when washing up/cleaning/gardening.
  • Use cuticle oil to nourish your nails.
  • Don’t peel off your nails yourself, this will weaken your nails each time.
  • Avoid filing your nails as this will break the seal of Gel/BIAB and can lead to chipping.

I hope his helps you understand which nail treatment is best for you.  And don’t forget we’re here to help and advise, so if you’re still stuck, just come and see me!
